该车的原型车是雪铁龙DS3由法国M-Technology打造的- 实际上是和WRC赛车相同的 - 并且将由在瑞典的汉森赛车做前期改装工程。 Liam的车2012年抵达Doran HQ ,并准备在观念上有根本性的变化。在2012一年当中同样的运行的团队的对雪铁龙路DS3做过两种尝试,这两款改装方案有很大的区别。帕特的英国Rallycross冠军车的发动机采用纵置,而Liam的欧洲Rallycross冠军车却是横向。帕特解释其理由。
帕特: “If you see the start-line of a rallycross circuit and look down at the black tyre marks, you will see the cars go off at a slight twist. As they leave the line the back wheels try and come round. The reason for that is because the engines are normally inline and so powerful that the internal inertial motion of the engine pulls the car to one side. But with a transverse car, as the engine is facing the direction of travel it gives you more even lateral grip. It’s better off the start, but also through the corners. You’ll see that inline cars like the older C4 drift through corners, whereas these just grip and go. It’s not so dramatic, but it’s so much more effective.”
