Set to race in the SP3T class at the Nürburgring race, the new WRX STI race car certainly looks the part of a road racer. The WRX STI race car gets caged, lowered, and then fit with a big front diffuser and massive rear wing -- after all, it isn't an STI without a big wing.The WRX STI race car will have all-wheel drive, and be powered by a turbocharged F-4 engine.
Given that the SP3T class is production-based, the WRX STI race car could be powered by the same 2.0-liter F-4 that's found in the new 2015 WRX.With the announcement of its new WRX STI race car, Subaru also released a new video showing the car being built, and in action at the track.
The video reveals that the WRX STI race car is fit with lightweight carbon fiber bumpers, as well as a sequentially-shifted manual gearbox. The next-gen WRX STI will be revealed on Tuesday at the Detroit auto show. |
