标致新的命名法则:
Along with yesterday's release of the new 301 sedan, Peugeot has announced it has revised its model naming system in an effort to differentiate models targeted to existing and emerging markets. The change is limited to the third digit of the naming system.
Currently, Peugeot's characteristic three-digit numbering system is structured so that the first digit indicates the vehicle's segment (or size), the second digit is always ‘0' which represents the Peugoet brand, and the third digit indicates the generation of the vehicle. Furthermore, a four digit naming system which always incorporates a central ‘double zero' is representative of taller body structure vehicles such as the 3008 MPV and 5008 crossover.
In the new naming system, only the third digit is affected. It will always end in either ‘1' to signifiy value for money models for emerging markets, or always end in ‘8' representing well equipped "status" models.
All models that already bear a number with an end digit ‘8', such as the 308 and 3008, will keep their name when they are renewed and generation 7 models will be replaced with an end digit ‘8'. All future generation models will keep the ‘8' end digit. Confused? Here's an easier breakdown:
the first digit indicating the vehicle's segment position
the ‘0' or ‘00' identifying the Peugeot genetic code
the end digit being either ‘1' or ‘8'.
The move comes in an effort to avoid confusion between models targeted to different markets as well as making it clearer for buyers to distinguish between budget and premium models - similar to Citroen's DS line.
