Remember that Chevy Camaro Z/28 prototype we spotted the other day? Now it’s back in fresh spy footage, only this time the test driver had some problems keeping the car on track.
With the ZL1 out and about later this year, Chevy is already working on the next iteration of the Camaro which will be the track-focused Z/28. Testing isn’t going according to plan as one of the prototypes just crashed at the Nürburgring in the Adenauer Forst section. As the attached footage shows, everything was fine until 1:38 when the rear brakes locked up either because of a driver error or a mechanical malfunction.
Chevy’s test driver lost control of the wide-and-wild Z/28 prototype and hit the side guard rail, causing some moderate damages to the prototype’s front bumper and fender. Shortly after the impact, a lovely Opel Insignia Sports Tourer OPC safety car arrived at the scene of the accident. After that, the damaged car was covered to try and hide the aftermath, but it was already too late as our spies were in the right place at the right time and caught all of the action on video.
At the end of the day, what really matters is the driver did not suffer any injuries and he will be back at the Nürburgring in no time to put the Z/28 through its paces. As for the prototype, the damages don't seem to be substantial, so the car still has some life in it. |
