Nissan Canada has announced plans to launch an afforable one-make racing series.

Called the Nissan Micra Cup, the series will kick off in May and run for five weekends at "well-known race tracks" in Quebec. More than 25 Micras will compete on each race weekend which will include two hours of track time consisting of a 30-minute trial, a 30-minute qualifying session and two 30-minute races.

Drivers will compete using a specially-modified Micra 1.6 S which has been equipped with a NISMO suspension, a sports exhaust system, high-performance brakes and five-spoke alloy wheels with Pirelli high-performance tires. The model also has a stripped out interior with an FIA-approved racing seat, a roll cage and a fire extinguisher
