U.S. Rallyers Get A Fiesta Of New Ford PartsRally wannabes and Ken Block disciples will now be able to buy a Ford-blessed kit that turns their Fiesta into a race-ready machine, complete with 40% power boost. There's now more than one way to build a flying car.
The Fiesta R2 kit designed by Ford and M-Sport will be sold only through the Team O'Neil rally driving school. It includes a new five-speed Sadev sequential gearbox with flat shift gear cut, Reiger adjustable dampers with Eibach springs, competition brakes and a roll cage. The engine upgrades include new pistons and camshafts, granting 168 horsepower and 134 lb.-ft. of torque, a 40% boost over the stock Fiesta.
Buying the R2 kit also gains access to the Fiesta Sport Trophy Championship in RallyCar's Rally America National Championship 2WD class for 2011. The winner of that class gets a ride at Wales Rally GB and a chance to win a year's residential placement at M-Sport, working with the BP Ford World Rally team.
Ford didn't immediately reveal how much it would cost to get your Fiesta ready to gymkhana in your church parking lot, but did say a cheaper Stage 1 version of the R2 kit with unspecified subtractions would also be available.
Despite the X Games spectacles, rally racing hasn't caught on in the United States as it has in Europe, for any number of reasons. The R2 kit and a dedicated trophy could start to change that. 价格不晓得好贵 价格不晓得好贵
