The company with the double chevron logo is now selling 65 of these vehicles so that it won’t have to transport all of them next year when the largest collection of Citroëns will be moved. The remaining cars will be shipped to their new home located at L'Aventure Peugeot Citroën DS in Sochaux.
The 65 cars are going to be auctioned online on December 10 and with the money earned, Citroën says it will acquire more rare pieces to further strengthen its collection ahead of 2019 when the company will celebrate its centenary. The ones that will be up for grabs are mostly models of which the company has multiple examples, which means that by selling them it won't affect at all the firm's heritage. Some of them are concepts while others don’t have a VIN, meaning the buyers won’t be able to register them for road use. There are also a lot of pre-production car and a few rather interesting mockups.
It’s not just cars that will be available during the auction as Citroën will also sell other miscellaneous items, such as advertising posters, clothes, official photos, scale models, brochures, and even body panels belonging to various race cars.
