Modifications for the Citroen Xsara

Available in standard form with power of upto 167bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Xsara. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 183.7bhp to 283.9bhp which seems almost too good to be true but is possible if you have deep pockets.

The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a ’167bhp Xsara Hatchbacks’. The more powerful Xsaras respond well to tuning mods. Top of your list for tuning mods will be a sports exhaust system, a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality induction kit.
A fast road cam will make quite a difference to the peak power of your Xsara. Turn your attention next to the Xsaras engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.
The top Xsara Hatchback offers a base power level of 167 bhp. The car tuning guide would expect you to see power gains from 183.7 bhp to 283.9 bhp!
Citroen put together a nice package but the turbo Xsara owners have a real tuners dream. A remap and Intercooler will add a lot of power to the engine and in some cases you can double your power. The Xsaras come in various power levels right up to 167bhp. On a motorsport prepared Xsara it is possible to achieve power figures of anywhere approaching 217.1bhp to 317.3bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. . High on your list of mods for your Xsara should be handling improvements. A drop of 35mm will work well on most cars, any lower and you will hit other problems. |
